As Managing Director, Helen leads a diverse organisation with a focus on today’s key business practices including work force flexibility and engagement. Helen oversees a workforce that is both in-house and remote. She is committed to delivering on and exceeding all aspects of client requirements.
Helen joined Cogent Business Solutions in 2005 as the Company Administrator and has been instrumental in transforming the company’s operating and accounting systems. Helen is an accredited external OHS Auditor and assisted Cogent in developing, implementing and maintaining its quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
Helen has been Company Secretary since 2012 and became a Director of Cogent in 2014. Her extensive experience in a variety of corporate positions and her expertise in all aspects of daily business operations – personnel management, accounting and financial reporting, facilities management, project management, Quality and WH&S compliance, business development and business and administrative support functions – provides Cogent with a well-rounded and qualified leader.
Helen played an integral role in Cogent’s Indigenous joint ventures which enabled her to work closely with Indigenous communities, providing employment opportunities and growth.
Leonie has been working within the Security Vetting environment for more than 9 years. During this time, Leonie has provided administrative support and customer service capacities. Leonie has a natural ability to adapt to a variety of roles, work environments, systems and processes. Her experience is working in extremely sensitive security environments within Cogent Business Solutions. As the Chief Operating Officer, Leonie is currently responsible for all aspects of organising, maintaining and coordinating the office operations to promote organisational effectiveness and efficiency. From recruiting new staff to managing staff, workflow, business processes and procedures for all vetting operations. Her role includes training of staff and providing advice on complex security vetting cases and quality assurance within Cogent. Leonie maintains professional working relationships with AGSVA and other Vetting organisations which enables her to be across all requirements and processes for the whole of Government. Not only does Leonie have a strong understanding of Vetting requirements, Leonie assists and is familiar with ICT and physical requirements. Leonie is Cogent’s Chief Security Officer and is responsible for ensuring Cogent complies with all security requirements.
Ant Blumer has a broad background in the military, mining and security sectors. He served in the Australian Army in a number of jobs that provided a solid background in security and risk. On leaving the Army he worked for a range of companies in PNG, Africa and Central Asia in a number of mining and security / risk roles. Ant joined Cogent as a consultant during the late 1990s and his main focus was on the integration of effective compliance, risk and security measures within organisations and the development of effective management systems to support core business in both the government and private sectors. He was a director of Cogent Audit Systems, Murumal, VerifyNow and Kapani before becoming Cogent’s Managing Director in 2017. In 2022 he became Chairman of the Cogent companies.
